Sago Pudding / Kheer

This is an excellent cure for diarrhoea.


  1. 2 – 4 tbsp Sago / Javvarisi / Sabudana
  2. 1 cup Milk
  3. Sugar to taste
  4. Cardomon Powder
  5. Raisins
  6. Ghee


  1. Clean the Sago in water and keep aside.
  2. Bring the milk to boil and add the Sago
  3. Cook for a few minutes until Sago looks sticky
  4. Add Sugar, Cardamom powder and raisins.
  5. Keep aside and serve warm.

Nutritional Information:

It is an excellent source of Carbohydrates.


If diarrhoea still persists, please consult a Doctor.

Last day of 2008!

Here ends another year! Yet another proof for God’s faithfulness. I thank God for all that He has done through out this year. I thank Him for Joshua, the most precious gift, an answer to our  2 year long wait. I thank Him for His presence that was with us throught out this year, for His guidance, for His Grace and Mercy. I thank Him for my husband, for the love that we share. I thank Him for all my relatives, friends and for the support they give.


Cleanse me with your precious blood so that I can feel your presence. This day being the last day of this year, I thank you for all that you have done. You have been an everpresent help. I commit 2009 into your mighty hands. You are the potter and we are the clay. Use us to glorify your name, to live as your testimonies. Bless us, Let everyone find out what it is, to be with You! Let this year be a year of abundance. Lord, we know that You are in complete control of the situation and that You are holding our hands.

We love you Lord Jesus. Let your presence be with us always.

We give you all the glory, honour and praise.

In the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I pray.

After a long break…

I am now back with a bang!! It was George’s birthday on 13th and we celebrated it in a wonderful way! I got held up with work and couldn’t find time to add any post 😦 and yeah… It was Christmas time.. 🙂 We had decorated our home and yes, I shall uplaod the photos shortly. Not forgetting to say, we have got Joshua’s snap framed.

Our Christmas started with the mass @ Velachery Church. We had a family get together and hosted the lunch 🙂 I made a special Chocolate cake (which turned to be really tasty one) was very much appreciated by all. 🙂 

So Christmas was truly a meaningful one for us,  with the message of Christmas ‘Love came to the earth’ being shared among one another!

I am planning to include a few testimonies, Word of God and some inspiring thoughts in the future.. I truly trust in ‘ God makes all things beautiful in His time. ‘

Homemade Vs Commercial Baby Food

You might ask me – What’s wrong with using Jarred/ Commercial baby foods? Take a Commercial baby food and check the Expiry Date. You will find that the food inside has been made to last for at least 1 – 2 years since the Manufactured Date. Is that what you intend to feed your baby?

The ingredients in Commercial baby foods are heated for very high temperatures and cooled to sterilise them. This makes it last longer, but removes a lot of flavour and some nutrients. Also exposure to processed foods, might cause digesting food in its actual form to  be difficult.

May be we can give them Commercial baby foods for the sake of convenience, but they are definitely not the healthier option. The best food that we can offer could be, what we prepare ourselves! We can be sure of what ingredients we use, hygiene and ensure that there are no thickeners and additives.

Trust Me! You can have plenty of combinations and variety which your baby would love!

Carrot Kheer – Carrot Pudding

Ingredients :

1 cup Grated carrots

1 cup Milk

*1 tsp Ghee


*1 tsp Cardomon Powder

*1 tsp Soaked and ground Almond powder.

* – Optional

Method :

  1. Pressure cook the grated carrots with milk.
  2. Strain the milk and mash the cooked carrots finely.
  3. In a fry pan add a tsp of Ghee and mix the mashed carrots.
  4. Add the Strained milk to get a fine consistency.
  5. Add the Cardomon Powder and Almond powder.
  6. Serve when warm.

Nutritional Info :

Carrots are good source of Dietary fiber, Manganeese, Niacin, Pottassium, Thiamin,

Sooji Kheer – (Semolina Pudding)

I tried this today and Joshua loved it.. 🙂

Ingredients :

  1. 3 tablespoon Semolina / Sooji
  2. 1 tsp Ghee
  3. 1 cup milk
  4. Raisins
  5. Cardamom Powder
  6. Sugar to taste.


  1. In a dry pan, roast the Semolina and then add a tsp of Ghee. (I add after roasting the Semolina to reduce the amount of Ghee used)
  2. Mix roasted Semolina with milk and make a paste with no lumps.
  3. Heat the remaining milk and add the paste along with sugar, raisins and cardamom powder.
  4. Serve when ready.

Nutritional Info:

It is an excellent source of Carbohydrates and Proteins.

Note :

You can also add roasted Cashew and Almond powder to this if your baby is at least 9 month old.

Nendran Banana Porridge

Nendran Banana porridge is yet another tasty one!

Ingredients :

  1. 2 – 3 Raw Nendran Bananas
  2. 1 cup Milk

Method – To prepare Nendran Banana Powder :

  1. Slice the raw Nendran Banana into fine pieces and dry it in shade until crispy.
  2. Grind the dried slices into fine powder.
  3. Store it in an airtight container.

Method – To prepare Porridge :

  1. Take 2 – 3 tablespoons of Banana Powder and mix it with equal quantity of milk. Ensure that there are no lumps.
  2. Heat the remaining milk and add the paste to it, while stirring continuously.
  3. Remove from heat when it mildly thickens.

Nutritional Information:

Calcium, Chlorine, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganeese, Phosphorus, Pottassium, Silica, Sodium, Sulphur.

Note :

In some babies, this might cause constipation. You are always the better Judge on whether to give this to your baby or not.
